USCIS Extends Temporary Suspension of Biometrics Submission for Certain Form I-539 Applicants

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the extension of the temporary suspension of biometric submission for certain Form I-539 applicants until September 30, 2023. This measure is being taken to manage the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to reduce the backlog of applications. This extension applies to H-4, L-2, E-1, E-2, and E-3 categories of applicants, as well as to certain other eligible dependent categories.

USCIS Clarifies Guidance on Citizenship and Naturalization for Adopted Children

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued new guidance clarifying the eligibility requirements for citizenship and naturalization for adopted children. The guidance explains the different requirements for children adopted both domestically and internationally, including those adopted by US citizens and permanent residents. The guidance also provides information on how to prove the legal adoption of a child and the residence and physical presence requirements for naturalization.
