USCIS Announces End of COVID-Related Flexibilities

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has ended some of its pandemic-related flexibilities on March 23, 2023. The changes include a return to in-person interviews and biometric appointments, and the end of remote document verification and certain deadline extensions. However, USCIS will continue to provide certain flexibilities, such as rescheduling appointments, if necessary, to help individuals and employers navigate the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic.

USCIS Updates Policy on Time Frames for Paper-Based Filings and Responses Ending on Saturdays, Sundays, or Federal Holidays

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated its policy on time frames for paper-based filings and responses that end on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. Beginning on April 1, 2022, USCIS will consider a response or filing received on the next business day if the response or filing deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday. This change will apply to all paper-based submissions to USCIS, including applications, petitions, and requests.

USCIS Form and Policy Updates for Applying for Naturalization Based on Military Service

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated the naturalization application process for military service members and veterans. Form N-400 and Form N-426 have been revised to make the application process easier and more efficient. Policy updates will also allow certain spouses of service members and veterans to naturalize abroad without having to travel to the US for the naturalization ceremony.
